Sita Dahal, who
is also an adviser to the party, died on Wednesday morning while undergoing
treatment at
Sita,
who was suffering from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy along with Parkinsonism,
Diabetes Mellitus-II and Hypertension for a long time, was taken to the
hospital on Wednesday morning following complications in her health condition.
According to Prime Minister Dahal’s personal physician Professor Dr Yuvraj
Sharma, Sita Dahal had cardiac arrest at 8 am on Wednesday.
“Despite
resuscitation, she could not be revived and [was] declared dead at 8:33am,”
read a statement signed by Sharma.
President
Ramchandra Paudel has said that he is deeply saddened by the news of the death
of Prime Minister Dahal’s wife Sita Dahal.
President Paudel
telephoned Prime Minister Dahal on Wednesday morning to express his grief and
also expressed his deep condolences, wishing that God would give strength to
the bereaved family including the Prime Minister.
Indian Prime
Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences on the passing of Sita
Dahal.
“Extremely
saddened to learn about the demise of Mrs. Sita Dahal. I express my sincere
condolences to @cmprachanda and pray that the departed soul finds eternal
peace. Om Shanti,” wrote Modi in a Tweet.
Likewise, leader
of the main opposition party and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli reached
Oli
also took to Twitter to express his condolences.
“I am deeply
saddened by the news of the death of Sita Dahal, the life partner of honourable
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Paying heartfelt tributes to the late Sita
Dahal, I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family including Prime
Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal,” wrote Oli.
Also, Nepali
Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba reached the Thapathali-based hospital to
pay tribute to Sita Dahal and express condolence to the prime minister.
Similarly, the
Rastriya Swatantra Party, issuing a statement, expressed grief over the demise
of Sita Dahal.
“We are saddened
and shocked by the news of the untimely death of Sita Dahal, the wife of
honourable Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda,” the statement reads,
“At this sad time, the entire RSP family wishes for the eternal peace of her
soul and expresses our deepest condolences. Also, we sincerely wish that the
bereaved family members get the strength to be patient.”
Heads of various
diplomatic missions also expressed their condolences on the passing of Sita
Dahal.

Meanwhile,
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song reached the party office of the CPN (Maoist
Centre) to pay the last tribute to the late Sita Dahal. Her body was kept at
the party office in Koteshwar to pay the last tribute to her.
