Mumbai, May 18, 2023 - Actress Anushka Sharma's bodyguard, Sonu Shaikh, has been issued a fine of ₹10,500 by the Mumbai Traffic Police for riding a motorcycle without a helmet and a license. This action came after photos of the actress and her bodyguard on the bike went viral on social media, highlighting their failure to adhere to safety regulations.
Under the Motor Vehicle Act, both
riders and pillion passengers are required to wear helmets while traveling on a
motorcycle. However, netizens pointed out that neither Anushka Sharma nor her
bodyguard were wearing helmets in the pictures. The violation prompted Mumbai
Traffic Police to take action against the bodyguard for flouting the rules.
The Mumbai Traffic Police
announced the fine on Twitter, stating, "Challan has been issued under Sec
129/194(D), Sec 5/180 & Sec 3(1)181 MV act to the driver along with a fine
of ₹10,500, which has been paid by the offender." The authorities cited
multiple sections of the Motor Vehicle Act to penalize the bodyguard for riding
without a helmet and license.
